Ūkų studija- was founded in 2010 by documentary filmmaker and National Culture and Arts Prize laureate Audrius Stonys.
Audrius Stonys is one of the most creative and productive filmmakers of the middle “turning point” generation. In 1992 A.Stonys received the Best European Documentary Award (Felix) for his film Earth of the Blind; the film received the prize for the best experimental film in the famous Oberhausen Film Festival (Germany). His films flying over Blue Field (1996), Fedia. Three Minutes after the Big Bang (1999), Alone (2001), The Fogs of Fogs (2006), I Crossed the Fire, You Were with Me (2010) received prizes at international festivals in Neubrandenburg (Germany), San Francisco (USA), Nyon (Switzerland), Split (Croatia), Barcelona, Bilbao (Spain), St. Petersburg (Russia) and elsewhere. Retrospectives and special presentations of A/Stonys’ films were held in Switzerland, Russia, France, Israel, Czech Republic, the Ukraine, India, Japan and Columbia. He is a Member of the European Documentary Network of the European Film Academy. The director often reads lectures on documentary film and hold master classes worldwide.
At present Ūkų studija of A.Stonys works on a number of large-scale documentary film projects – Woman and the Glacier, Christening, and is involved in the development of Riga force majeure – a joint project of 7 European filmmakers.
